Above is our AS Media Studies opening sequence; Tracker was a film based around a female protagonist and a male antagonist who have a grudge against each other. I think there were many good points about our opening sequence but there are some improvements in which we could have made.
One aspect of our opening sequence in which I thought we did well, was the quality of our shots. I think many of the shots within our sequence worked well as it came across to our audience that there was something suspicious going on between our two characters. The shots also allowed the audience to believe that the film could come to a bad ending, as the audience we led to believe the male antagonist was actually the protagonist instead of the other way around. For example, in one of the shots consisted of the female character looking over her shoulder at the male character making the audience think that the male was the "villain."
Another aspect in which I think went well for our opening sequence was that we thought about the location in which we wanted to base our film in. The location we chose echoed the theme of our film, this included being a gloomy and an unexpectant place for the shot to take place. We were also hoping the weather would be how scene was portrayed, in our case the weather was just right allowing us to get the effect we wanted.
However, I think we could improve the locations inside, as the bedroom scenes didn't really come across as an individuals bedroom. For example, when the male character is applying his shoes, the floor isn't carpeted even though there is a bed in the room. This also applies when the female character is putting on her shoes, in the background of the scene there is piping when also doesn't make it look like a teenagers bedroom, the floor isn't carpeted as well similar to when the male character is putting on his shoes.
Another aspect which I think we could improved is focusing a bit more on the continuity of the opening sequence. We noticed after we put our film together that the female antagonist is not wearing lipstick in the outside scenes but is wearing lipstick in the indoor scenes. It is also noticeable that the female antagonist is wearing different shoes in the outside scene.
Overall, I think that the aspects which worked well made our film that little bit better but if we concentrated a bit more on the little aspects such as continuity our opening sequence would have be a lot better.
